    Hi all

    Ive just got my Photoshop for my new mac…but for some reason it wont let me open any saved jpg images.

    Does anyone know why ?

    When i try it says "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file"

    I’ve never had a problem with PS on the mac. How are you trying to open the jpgs? I usually do it either from a finder window by right clicking (that’s control click if you have a mighty mouse) and choosing open with adobe photoshop or, if I am already in PS then Command + O, or from the toolbar-file-open.

    Well ive just tried opening PS then go to the edit tab then open then find the image in what ever folder.

    I have also tried to drag the folder to the PS icon.

    Its probably something really simple that i have done wrong !!

    Surely you mean the file tab?

    What happens if you try to open the image in PS from a Finder window?

    yeh sorry ment the file tab.

    Im just trying to open one image from a folder.

    As i said…ive prob done something silly somewhere !!

    What program were they saved with? Can you open them with Preview? Is it all pictures or just a specific batch?

    Basically i saved a few pictures of facebook…for this site im trying to do….and i saved them to the a folder on the mac on the desktop as a JPEG images.

    I then tried to open up PS (as im trying to merge a header image) so i tried to then open one of the saved JPEG images and it says that message?

    Now that was the way i used to do it on my old PC !!

    Can you open them with Preview?

    Can you open any other jpgs in PS?

    I just saved a pic off facebook and opened it in PS without any problems.

    Sorry but im really new to all this !!

    How would i open it with preview ?

    Cant seem to open any images

    Is there something i have to do when i first open PS or something ??

    If you double click on the jpg in the folder on your desktop it should open in Preview.

    I’m starting to wonder if Photoshop is properly installed?

    Yeh when i double click it goes to PS but then says that message.

    Should i uninstall then re install ??

    It might turn out to be the easiest option, but I would check that you can open the images with Preview first. Either open Preview and try and open the images from there or right click on the image and ‘open with’ Preview.
