    Just looking for tips, best practices or tools about optimizing images for web.

    Use Photoshops save for web tool. You should be able to then fiddle the options to reduce file size whilts minimising the negative impact on picture quality.

    Once uploaded, set your expires headers correctly (using htaccess) and use gzip compression. Those three combined should make your images load nice and fast.

    Also there’s a programme “Color quantizer” for optimizing the png images. It optimizes the png better than photoshop
