I have attached a codepen of where I am so far with my circular navigation.

Clicking on the large circle brings out the smaller circles. The elements resize as the browser grows and shrinks. This works perfectly.

The problem lies in positioning of the smaller circles in relation to the large one.
As the elements shrink and grow, the perceived distance between them also shrinks and grows, which is exactly what I don’t want.
I need the smaller circles to stay where they are relative to the large circle.
I am almost certain that the problem lies with the rigid co-ordinates of the ‘translate’ transformation. If these could somehow be made responsive like the sizing…
I really do hope somebody can help, it’s driving me nuts!
