I have an image of a map. I have various points on the map. When you mouseover a point, and little text box should appear with a small description. Also, below the map will be a text area that will have a much more detailed description of the point you mouseover.

I’m really lost on how I would do this. Maybe this is easy for others, but its seems like this would be very difficult.

It’s actually harder than you think, depending on your requirements.

If this is a fixed size background image it’s fairly easy with a little HTML/CSS and (yes, Javascript or Jquery).

If you need this to be responsive it gets a little harder and if you want to highlight ‘areas’ (such as states) then it gets a lot more complicated.

So, what do you have so far? Can you show us the map and the kind of ‘point’ you want?
