CSS-Tricks is brought to you in part by Media Temple, the web hosting that we both use and recommend.
I am making a quick mock-up for a friend of mine and everything looks cool in my FF and IE8, however it gets really whacked out in IE6 and looks terrible.
I looked all around for fixes/hacks (double-margin, etc.) and nothing seems to work.
Can anyone help?

It’s IE6 double margin/padding bug with floats. This should fix it. Either use a conditional comment for IE6 to change the padding in #state-list div to padding-right: 5px;
or use this hack in the same div.
padding-right: 10px !important;
