Hey, I am making a drop-down navigation bar, and I have made the background-colour of all the list tags to black (and when I hover over them, they will turn maroon). To show that the user is currently on one of the tabs in the navigation bar, I want to make that list tag already maroon (In the case below, I would like the images tab to be maroon, but all the sub-tabs to be black (and turn maroon when user hovers over it).
How do I get just the images tab background colour to be maroon, but not all the list items in the unordered list within it. Sorry if I have over complicated it.

The HTML in the pen is the basic idea (there is much more css).
