I have Span tags in my HTML with an id attribute – Centre_for_Training_in_Social_Housing_receives_a_tick_for_training
When I click the link: https://communityhousing.org.au/housing-matters-august-2019/#Centre_for_Training_in_Social_Housing_receives_a_tick_for_training
It works as expected.
When the link is embedded in an email newsletter it is converted to: https://chiansw.cmail19.com/t/r-i-jdbkrud-l-o/
But, it redirects to the correct URL and works as expected.
Problem: It is not working for the client – regardless of whether they click the direct link, paste it into a browser or click the embedded newsletter link, they can’t get the page to scroll.
From my knowledge, this entire behaviour is driven by the browser, as long as there is a matching ID tag, the browser controls the scroll.
Is there anyway that the website itself could be blocking this behaviour? And why only on their machines and not mine?
As I was typing, I have tried the link in incognito mode and have now experience the same problem – the page wont scroll?
If I right click the links above and open in incognito mode, it seems to work ok. But if I copy and paste the embedded newsletter URL it wont scroll
Help?
I’m not actually seeing a problem. Some email providers may mess with the URLs you feed them, which is why the link looks different, but it seems to be redirecting correctly to the anchor link you started with.
