link not working on tablet/smartphones

on my website i have a image banner/slider on the homepage. (www.mbooks.co.uk)

on a desktop/laptop this banner has a clickable url

however, when accessed from a tablet or smartphone, i no longer can click the slider image.

i know that the url is still active, as if i hold down on the image to bring up the menu, it gives me the option to “open link in new tab”

is there something disabling the click/press function?

if you can give demo code here using codepen or other online then it would be easy for solving your problem.

i dont know how that would help, because the issue is only when the website is accessed from mobile/tablet devices.

also, i didnt make the code. it’s just a free template i picked up!
