License on Images in press releases of products

I wanted to use a few stock images for my mockups. A friend of mine told me that I could use the images that are a part of press releases of certain products.

Do these images satisfy the requirement to be used in a mockup that I may make?
If not, could someone please help me with some other sources of such things. I am mostly interested in video games, technology and gadgets.

It’s entirely dependent on the ‘owner’ of the brand.

Just because you receive a press release doesn’t entitle you to do anything with the images contained within it.

If you are the one issuing the release my guess is that you ‘might’ have limited rights…it depends on your agreement with the brand owner.
