Memberhi i am using this theme right here to try and build a site.
http://themefuse.com/demo/wp/gadgetry/
it is the best free theme i can find for the look and feel i want. it has an option for grid and list view but has no option to allow you to use the list view as the default. on their forums they said it would take a major code change to allow the list view as the default, but i would think it would be possible to do as a short code or a small change but I am pretty new to wordpress and haven’t been able to figure it out on my own. is it possible or should i start searching for a new theme? thanks.

Memberno the grid layout is the default and i want to use the list layout. it even has a built in button on the front page to let you switch. i already have done things using shortcodes that the “devs’ have said would take significant changes. it is their only theme that is free and they offer it with no support but i get the feeling they just want everyone to see that themes potential and purchase one of their pay themes. i have gotten everything done on this theme i want with the exception of the layout in list view.

Memberyeah i had thought about doing it that way i was just hoping that long term i could figure out a better way so when i backed up my site or moved to another host it wouldn’t have to be something i would have to mess with again. i just thought because a built in switch for it was on the front page that their would probably be an easy way to make that switch occur in short code or something that would use that feature. maybe i will just look for another theme, though it took me a long time last time to find one i liked.
