Sidebars on ever blog I visit use them; <h2>, <h3>, or <h4>, but is it right?

Multiple H1 tags are only “right” in HTML5. Before that, a page could only have one H1 tag but no limit to H2-H6.

In general, the lower the number, the more “important” a title is (and, in general, logically, usually, etc.) displayed more prominently.

Is it order of importance or use them in order? I thought it was that you shouldn’t use an h4 without having an h3 on the page?

    I’m feeling a bit confused.

Lets say a post title is using an h1 and the widget titles are all using h4s, but there isn’t a single h2 and h3 on the page. Does it matter?

I meant order of importance — but it’s perfectly fine and valid to use H4 elements when you don’t have H2 or H3 anywhere.
