Hi there…. something interesting, rather annoying is happenning to me. I’m developing a new web application and I’m using the following doctype:

When testing the app in IE8, I noticed that it will looks diffrent when it runs on my local machine, that when it runs on a network drive or a testing environment. When ran on my local machine and I open IE developer tools, the Document Mode is IE 8 Standards, when run it from a network drive the document type is IE 7 Standards.
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening.
    Thanks in advance.

Probably something to do with it defaulting to Compatibility Mode.

However, if you are developing a NEW web application then use the HTML5 DocType!

It doesn’t affect anything else, every browser can understand it and it’s so easy to remember :-)

    Maybe Compatibility mode is on?
