how do we call a javascript function in anchor tag

hi

i used the ajax function to send a data from html to php. when i call this function in anchor tag it was not worked,but the functions works well when used with textbox. i called the function like this,

can any one give a suggestion to me how to call it in anchor tag.

thanks to all. senff thanks for pointing out the this value, it doesn’t pass any value to function that’s why my function didn’t work. i passed the value in function call. now my code works. thanks for your help.
