How do facebook catch new chatmessages?

Hi guys.

I’m currently on a new project where i’m building a forum – and chatsystem. When i go and look into facebooks networktab in google chrome it dosen’t send ajax request all the time. It only requests when there is a new message and I was wondering if you guys could help me doing the same?

I’m guessing they use http://caniuse.com/#feat=eventsource , with a fallback since browser support isn’t that good.
