I am really new to CSS and I can’t figure out how to separate my left_nav.css from effecting my top_nav.css.
Here is a link to the conflicting styles:

Thank you all for you time,
There were a couple of issues and the vertical difference was just one, but I can’t change the padding, because of pages that don’t have the left_nav won’t display correctly. My UL styles for the top_nav are also being overriden by the left_nav.
I instead need to learn how to make the ‘a’ elements work independently.
I need to know how to make selectors on the top_nav style sheet, that have more specificity so they don’t necessarily take precedence, but work independently from the left_nav.
