    What div should I edit and what’s the best rule to use so that the content can reach all the way down.

    Build a time machine and travel three years into the future and use flexbox.

    Seriously though, your best bet right now may be JavaScript.

    Yeah I’d definitely go JS over the magic number min-height solution. Since you’re basically just wanting it to match the height of the right column, you might as well make it match no matter what that height may be.

    You could display:table for #container and display:table-cell for left-div and sidebar. Remove the floats.

    Having said this, I think the markup should be cleaned quite a bit to avoid further trouble.
