h3 tags make div appear not inline… confused

ok so i have 2 divs #follow and #headermsg inside another div #header….. i have #follow and #headermsg inline, but when i wrap #headermsg in h3 it moves to below the social buttons

also when h tags are not used, the text in #headermsg has a big space above the text… like padding, but i dont see a padding attribute in my code.. :-/
