Both have their pros and cons. There is no “best” – it depends on what you want.

A good pro for Google Fontis that it will load resources from the Google server (and not your server) so that may be faster as it will download parts of your page simultaneously from Google and your server.

Also depends which fonts you’re talking about. Some restrict @font-face embedding and only allow specific distributors.
