    Hello CSS Tricks Forum.

    I’m a new member to the forum and also new to WordPress – I’ve always know about it however, it wasn’t until recently that I took a good look at the application and discovered that it could be used as a CMS. So, I dove in to find out how!

    As a test I’ve been working on converting one of my old projects into a WordPress site however, I have a few questions that I’m hoping someone might be able help answer.

    Current Site:

    WordPress site:

    When viewing the URL’s below in the Safari browser (Mac, Version 4.1.2) there is a large blank area at the bottom of the screen. It doesn’t appear on any of the longer pages (such as “Background”). This doesn’t appear when the same pages are viewed in Firefox (Mac, Version 3.6.10).

    If you refresh the page, or if you have two (or more) tabs open and you switch between the two, the white area goes away.

    What could be causing this “flash” of white space?

    I created my theme from the Starkers Theme. Looking through some of the PHP code there are references to the “Twenty Ten” theme.

    Here is a sample:

    ” . __( ‘Pages:’, ‘twentyten’ ), ‘after’ => ” ) ); ?>

    Can ‘twentyten’ be changed to the name of my new theme? Should this even be changed?

    Also, in the WordPress Dashboard, can you remove the “Default” template from the selection drop down? What do you do with the “Default” template? I did add a template name (Home Page) to the page.php file and that shows up in the list of templates available.

    If you look at the source of any page in the converted site, you’ll see a couple tags with ‘next’ and ‘prev’ in the <head>:

    <link rel=’prev’ title=’Counselling Services’ href=’; />
    <link rel=’next’ title=’Counselling Approach’ href=’; />

    Does any one know why these are there and how do you (or can you) remove them?

    Thanks so much for your help!

    Question 1: Your content isn’t long enough to force the white box to reach the bottom of the screen.

    Part of Question 2: To remove the default template you have to delete it from your server, but anytime you upgrade the site it’ll just add it pack in, so I just leave it and don’t worry about it, the clients I’ve always worked with want to know how to write a post and maybe update a page, but leave the rest to me.

    Question 3:It describes the position of the page within the site relative to other pages, there is more information in this document on the W3C site. As for removing them… the second post on this forum has a couple of methods

    Thanks for the information willB and for the links. I’ll have a look at them.
