    I would like to know if it’s possible to, when hovering over an element, animatedly fill the background with a color(say, fill a box from left to right with red, pixel by pixel).

    I could use an image and in a javascript loop move the image to the right pixel by pixel…but I would like to know if it’s possible without images.
