    I am trying to exclude a category from my wordpress homepage. These 3 attempts are not working. Any other ideas?

    Works but when I click the link to view other categories they don’t appear.

    query_posts($query_string . '&cat=-132');
    //continue regular WP loop
    if (have_posts()) :
    while (have_posts()) : the_post();
    //display posts
    endwhile;
    else :
    //show errors
    endif;
    ?>

    Works but when I click the link to view other categories they don’t appear.

    Doesn’t work.

    This might take care of it:

    In your original chunk of code, insert

    the_content();

    between the_post(); and endwhile;

    That is not working. It is pulling post above my main content area for some reason.

    Could you please paste your index.php and css files here?

    index.php

    /**
    * @package WordPress
    * @subpackage Starkers
    * @since Starkers 3.0
    */

    get_header(); ?>

    get_template_part( 'loop', 'index' );
    ?>

    What content should be in your main content area? Looking at the site with Firebug, the basic structure looks like this:

    I don’t see any content prior to the blogStyle div.

Ok that bit of code is back in now. Pretty messed up. I will leave it up for a bit.

in loop.php…

      while (have_posts()) : the_post(); the_content();

Sorry — had to be away from my computer the rest of yesterday. A couple of thoughts. First, run it through the validator and fix as many errors as possible — I doubt anything there is causing the problem, but it’s worth a try. Second, try wrapping your sidebar (the ‘xoxo’) in a separate div:

Left float blogStyle and right float the sidebar. That might help with the problem — let me know what happens.
