Hi I am new to this css world what I am trying to do is get an element to sit on top of other elements but when I resize the screen the element os all over the place. I have a mental block with positioning now after trying various combinations, absolute, fixed, relative. Please help me out of the hole I am in …. lol take a look at http://www.picsfixed.co.uk to see the problem I am having .
You link doesn’t really help much…how is it supposed to look?
It is possible to have an element on top of another (it’s called z-index) and this, combined with, most likely, ‘relative’ positioning will get you what you want.
As I said, without knowing where your ‘out of place’ element is supposed to be and how it’s supposed to behave it’s tough to help.
Sorry for cnfusing you, the slideshow box, the one on the right is the one that won’t position correctly, with a smaller browser window it falls outside and right of the main page.
In the latest version it looks alright but, again, I don’t know how it is supposed to behave.
Your site is not responsive to any great degree so you, apparently, aren’t catering for smaller browser windows than c.960px/1024px anyway.
Anyway…here’s a Codepen to keep you going in the meantime: http://codepen.io/Paulie-D/pen/acFqw
