Hi, I’m trying to create a horizontal menu, and when hovering over menu items the sub menu should appear underneath, full-width and aligned to the left side of the parent menu, rather than the left side of the parent items.
Does anyone know a way to do this using CSS alone? I know I can do it with jquery and separate menus.
You can handle the sub-menu hover-reveal with the :hover selector in CSS.
Try Googling “hover activated CSS menus” and you’ll find lots of examples, then it’s just up to you to dress them up however you like. You’ll find many generators and tutorials too.
If you hit a problem, feel free to post back with your own code in a basic demo, with a clear description of the problem, what is/isn’t happening, and what you expect/want to happen instead. From there we can offer suggestions for fixes. Note that we only need just enough HTML/CSS/JS to demo the problem – we don’t need your whole codebase.
Good luck with your research.
