    With responsive design, I’ve heard that using display: none is the best way to hide elements that you dont want to show on your mobile version of the site that are currently on the desktop version. Does using display: none effectively remove the element from the DOM though so it doesn’t load at all or is it just hidden?

    Keep in mind that CSS is for style only, it does not have the ability to affect the DOM.
