div won’t wrap content?

I have a main div on my blog page and within it contains my blog post and experts (the loop). The main div has background image that won’t show past the containing divs.

It works find everywhere else on the site including the single post pages.

The background image is a light gradient and I want it to extend down the page even if content starts before the end of the gradient.
