    Is there away to display :after 12 column with each height 100% just like 960 grid does with its images so you can see the 12 columns

    Is there a way to do it with css.

    What do columns have to do with the :after pseudo-element?

    It’s not clear what you are trying to do.

    960gs uses an image in the background. Seems like the simplest way to me but I suppose it could be done using a pseudo-element overlay (or underlay) but I think it would be more hassle than it’s worth.
