I know that the CSS-Tricks tag logo was created in Photoshop but I am interested how some of the effects were achieved. For example, is that a stroke with a gradient running round the edges? And is the raised effect effect achieved through a drop shadow with a layer mask? I am still learning my way around PS and it would be great to know some of these techniques to improve my designs.
Any tutorials you can point me towards would be handy as well.
Is this no no topic?
It looks like a stroke with a gradient and it has a shadow that looks like it has been transformed > warped. Looks pretty simple to me. Good luck.
This is better to be designed in Illustrator.
@LaurelBrittany – thanks for your feedback.
@ChristopherBurton – how come?
Mostly scaling but it’s also easier to create shapes in Illustrator compared to Photoshop. I’m not saying it isn’t possible to create this in Photoshop because it is.
Do you think it is worthwhile learning the ropes on illustrator for logos alone?
Absolutely
Thanks very much!
