I want the entire background to be red and the font color to be white, but it doesn’t seem like it’s working.. Is there any other way around to fix this?
remove the p tag around the text, or style the p tag itself : #ewan p:hover
Easiest way is to remove p tag

The “a:hover” literally tells the browser to change the properties for the -tag, when the mouse is hovered over it. What you perhaps meant was “the div:hover” instead, which would trigger when the div was chosen.
Just to make sure, if you want to change only one particular div, give it an id (”
<
div id=’something’>”) and use the CSS “#something:hover {…}” instead. If you want to edit a group of divs, make them into a class (”
<
div class=’else’>”) and use the CSS “.else {…}” in this case (note the period before the class’ name!)
This Yahoo result links are wierd. They won’t change from blue when hover:
