CMS Suggestions

I am looking for a CMS that is really simple–just something that will edit text in a SQL database or something, so that when a page loads, it takes stuff from that database. I’m not looking to edit anything other than text-I don’t need anything very fancy such as WordPress or Drupal-I only need to have credentials verified before being able to edit content.

I am wondering if anyone knows of such a CMS before I take off and program my own.

for smaller sites i generally recommend Pagelime.

super quick to implement, and a really nice experience for the client since it allows in-context editing. also, no database needed.

And why not wordpress and just buy a theme or choose a free one.

PageLime will work, but I’m thinking something more internal…

Wordpress works fine, only it’s very big and I don’t feel like scaling it down to what I need. Also, I want to have internal users and not universal WordPress users on my site. Lastly, the back end just doesn’t appeal to me.

    Perch for the win.

Yea, I looked into that too, but I don’t really want to pay anything…

I started on my own. It’s as simple as editing values in a database.

Now I have a new complication–how do I safely verify passwords so I know it’s my friends that are editing my database–the form directly edits my database. I want it secure.
