    I have a live chat on my site which uses .load() jquery function to reload the chat div when a new message has been posted. Its an Icelandic site so obviously it has to display icelandic characters. Chrome and safari displays them right but firefox and opera doesn’t. But only in the div which the .load() reloads, all other Icelandic characters displays right in all browsers.

    function getFresh() {
    $(".live").load("./includes/chat.php");
    $("div.live").scrollTop(9999);
    };

    ;

    Its a really irratating problem. Help would be appreciated.

    –EDIT–

    Typical 10 minutes after i post the problem I find a solution.

    For other with the same problem heres the SOLUTION:

    function getFresh() {
    $.ajaxSetup({
    'beforeSend' : function(xhr) {
    xhr.overrideMimeType('text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1');
    },
    });
    $(".live").load("./includes/chat.php");
    $("div.live").scrollTop(9999);
    };
