Can't find reason for height of line

Hi all,

I can’t figure out why the yellow coloured line inside the menu (click on a menu item) is at the height it is yet it pushes the text it contains down underneath the line below it.

I hope I am explaining it clearly and that someone can help me :)

I thought I could post the code but there is far too much. I just put the code on to a wordpress site so I could link to it but the issue seems to have sorted itself out somehow by doing that! :)
