‘m developing a site which has numerous slideshows and big image headers, on mobile devices these are not needed but and they are hidden with media queries, but they are obviously still being downloaded. Can anyone recommend a plugin which stops the browser downloading the images when they are not needed to conserve bandwidth?

@NSR that I think from just looking at their how to use would still not solve the problem as the request for the image is still in the css.

Been a while since i’ve dug into but I think this is one of the overhanging problems with using responsive design versus dedicated mobile site (which frankly is a less tenable position these days with the variety of displays available)

what kinda of site is it? in wordpress you can use wp_is_mobile() and use the appropriate image with that in a conditional statement
