Aligning images using html only?

Okay, I think my last topic was maybe too much to ask all at once.

What about this: Is there any way I can align a set of images using html only while still maintaining the fade-out effect I’m using from the linked code below?

Currently, if I try to align any image but the topmost image using CSS or html style=, the fade-out animation stops working. Any suggestions?

If you can create a demo in Codepen.io of what you are trying to do it would be very helpful.

You’d also have to clarify what ‘align’ means…left, right, top, bottom or middle?
