    Hi Folks,

I’m getting a bunch of gibberish: “+ADwAIQ-DOCTYPE..” when I open a file in my web editing software (Dreamweaver). At first it displayed the contact page correctly, but when I went to open the file the next day to make edits, I keep getting this non-sense (random symbols/letters/numbers).

Has anyone encountered this before, and what did you do to resolve the problem? It doesn’t matter if I bring this in Notepad, etc…I get the same gibberish.

    Thanks for your assistance,
    R.S.

What is the file extension/file type?

Hey Roxon, It’s an HTML file. Geez, I forgot to post the link. Here we go: http://mcculloughmarcom.com/frontline/contact.html

strangely enough, the page appears fine in I.E. and then garbled in Safari/Firefox. I did some additional research this evening, and possibly it might have something to do with old UTF encoding. I never found a solution or a work-a-around as of yet.

    Thanks for your response,
    R.S.

The only search result I found interesting was something mentioning Front Page. But you and that person seem to be the only two people on the planet to have experienced this!

Yeah and stop using Dreamweaver – immediately.

    Definitely not Dreamweaver’s fault.

If you’re on Windows, it is certainly one of the better options.

Hey Guys, Thanks for the feedback! I, too, have found that this is a possible Frontpage issue as well.

Mark–I tried that–copying the code from I.E. and then pasting into Notepad, and I still got the same gibberish.

I use an equal combination of Notepad and Dreamweaver, but this is the first time I’ve encountered this “strange phenomenon!” inside of Dreamweaver. hehe :) I’m gonna keep researching and see what I can find in terms of a fix. Thanks everyone for posting your findings as well.
