You do have text inside the side blocks already. It says ‘Hoi’.

It works OK in IE9 so which version of IE is it a problem?

You really don’t need those background images on the content block or side blocks.

You can get what you want with regular (and simple) HTML & CSS and it won’t matter how big they get.
