Gimme a break. You’re looking at a different menu to me. :D
The one I am seeing only has 5 items:
* Home
* Search
* Calendar
* Login
* Register

If you want to center the whole menu then you must specify its width.

NB. I was only working with what you provided, if I was building the page I would have the "active" background on the link not the list item.
