Ok, so i figured it out… although you might still find it interesting, and i would love to know what was actually happenning?!

It came down to the ‘floatL’ (float: left;). When removed, the whole backing plate would drop 10px. I changed it to ‘floatR’ (float: right;) and boom – it works fine accross the browsers?!
