Thanks for the input! You were completely right about the superfluous code. I don’t know what I was thinking, but I removed all of it and got everything positioned right again…in Firefox. Once again, it looks perfect in FF and is broken on multiple levels in Safari and I’m practically pulling my hair out now.

When I try to use the text-indent workaround for the navigation, everything disappears, so I’m having to just leave the text blank. However, when I put anything in for one of them, I can see all of the links in Safari. What in the world would cause that?! Not even the top padding is the same as in FF, so I’m at a loss. Also, for some reason I can see a bit of the bottom of the "over" state of the links in Safari?

I was using netrenderer to try and see if the same thing would happen in ie 6 and 7, and in both of those the navigation is completely nonexistant. Is this method of using sprites not compatible with those browsers?
