My point is you won’t get clients to put in your portfolio to impress prospective clients with a website that doesn’t showcase your ability. Forget Ford, what about Sam’s mechanic shop down the street, or the local storage facility around the corner, or your Aunt’s cookie business — you have to design something that shows people what you can do, otherwise no one will ask you to do anything.
