One more thought on this subject: do you have a private server? with a company you trust completely (not just their intentions, but also their competence in security matters)?

If you are on a shared hosting plan, as 90% of the internet is, then your site is simply **not secure** and it is not possible to make it so.

The other reason is, if you *can* simply look up a password, you eventually *will*. That means that someone, sometime, will be able to steal the password.
