Apparently I wasn’t the only one stumped by this issue. That said it seems to be working on the latest Chrome Canary again. It must have just been a browser bug and not something I coded poorly. There were a ton of open SVG related bug in the tracker that had just been opened when I was looking into this issue; this was probably related to one of those bugs.
