I don’t use codekit, but it sounds like it simply might not handle sass very well (e.g., maybe it does foolish things, like trying to watch every file in every directory in your project tree).

To clarify, is this an issue with any sass scripts, or a specific framework that you’re using? Have you tried compiling those same sass scripts without codekit?
