I’ve built a blog in html/css and I’ve tried incorporating the code into the starkers reset theme but I must be doing something wrong. I’ve done my best to try and place div’s logically within the header, index, and footer but I’m simply php blind. I’ve gone through Chris’s tutorials for wp design but I guess I haven’t been able to apply his method to my code.

Here’s what the blog is supposed to look like: http://www.shinypropagandamachine.com/agonyecstasy/

Here’s what it currently looks like in wordpress: http://www.brandonrice.net

I can see the css in firebug but the only styling that seems to be working are the font stylings.

If I can ask just one question it’s this: Where are the background images and whats causing the conflict?

Let me know if you see any other anomalies that I might need to look in to.

    Helloo :)

Firstly well done for starting – PHP used to blow my mind as well. I could try and explain it but I think something that will really help you is the quick PHP intro course that Theme Forest does which you can find here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1721

If by the tutorials you mean these, then well I suppose its good that in WordPress you don’t really need to know PHP to make a simple theme… :)

What I would do is watch Chris’ 3 video design to wordpress tutorial – if you start watching it from the end of the first one it will make sense – as chris describes in detail the files and all that jazz needed to get you on your way :)

I would try and direct you on your page, but I think you had better stop and start again :D It might become far too confusing, and quicker for you to look at those vids first :)
