http://philosophytexts.us/rebelyell/temp/welcome.php – the menu on the left’s submenu items are supposed to be lower-roman, but they are 0’s.

It’s because the style is being applied to a span and not a UL. I’m guessing Chrome just applies the list style to all child elements whereas Firefox isn’t. So try this HTML instead:
