Which one do you suggest and why? (PHP Book)

Hello, pls i want to buy a php/mysql book. I have two options.

    1. PHP and MySQL Web Development by Luke Welling and Laura Thomson

    and

    2. Head First Learning PHP and MySQL.

As an experienced PHP programmer, which one do you suggest I buy? Thank you.

    Head First. Cause it’s awesome.

I have both of those books, and I would recommend Head First. It combines PHP and mySQL right from the beginning, instead of doing half the book in PHP and the other half in mySQL. It’s also more fun, and seems more practical. Check out what others say about Head First though, because they really take a different approach to teaching style than most other books, which may or may not be something you’re comfortable with.

Little off topic, but can I suggest one month membership to TutsPlus. You get access to wide variety of courses and subjects, including PHP/MySQL : https://tutsplus.com/course/php-fundamentals/

$20 for one month, then cancel once you have grasp on PHP/MySQL.

I’m a very visual person so for me video format works better.

@AlenAbdula is spot on. I haven’t used TutsPlus, but Lynda offers a similar deal at $25/month, and I have found this system of paid tutorial networks to be far more valuable than books in the long run.
