Text Flicker on loading of fading rollover

Ive implemented this bit into my site and gotten it to work fine:

HOWEVER, in the first second that the page loads the text renders as TIMES instead of Lucida as the CSS implies. This is distracting and I need it to stop. I hope there is some JS that will hide it until the CSS kicks in.

The navigation on the top left is what flickers when you keep refreshing.
