Reading Time Remaining (For WordPress)

  • # February 1, 2013 at 1:54 pm

    Hi all,

I’m new here, working on a WordPress site, and there’s a particular functionality that I saw on another website (the impeccable [Information Architects blog](http://informationarchitects.net/blog/ “Information Architects Blog”)) whereby scrolling in a long article will occasionally pop up a small indicator by the scroll bar mentioning the estimated time remaining to finish reading the article, and then a “Thank you” when you reach the bottom.

As the site I’m working on will have a fair bit of long content, I would love to have a similar system in place. The only existing plugins I’ve found are static estimates that you can place at the top of the article, which is much less elegant.

Since I’m not skilled enough to build a custom system and don’t think it’s polite to reverse engineer theirs, I’m hoping someone here might know of a system I could use or be willing to help me build something. I’d appreciate the assist :)

You would need to alter it to hook to the scroll bar.

I will give that a shot, thank you very much!
