Random Question Mark Icons In WordPress Text

I am re-designing a WordPress site, and I imported all of the many thousand articles and noticed all of these little icons showing up randomly in the text. Sometimes takes up 1 character, sometimes a whole sentence.

They also show up in the source the same way: �����

Tried different themes, as well as TypeKit/Google Fonts and am getting the same result.

Any ideas? langAttribute issue?

Without seeing it we can’t tell but it usually means that the character isn’t found within the chosen font.

It’s just an ASCII error.

If you’re copy/pasting into the WYSIWYG editor, try pasting from notepad. If that doesn’t work, it might be something with your charset that needs to be updated.
