New website for Poker iPhone App…feedback?

  • # May 12, 2011 at 1:10 pm

Just launched this site for an App that allows you to tap into Casinos and find out the latest happenings. Very different design than we’ve ever done and our first for an app! Also first site using HTML5, as well. What do you guys think?

    any love?

Oops – thought I had commented on this already.

I like it, for the most part. I think it lacks a little bit of structure and direction. For example, the ‘features’ on the left should draw my attention, but they don’t really.

Having said that, I don’t think I can provide any specific recommendations on how that could be improved.

This is a poor review! Apologies!

It’s ok…I feel the same way about the Features area but I haven’t yet found a solution that would draw attention in an elegant and attractive way. I suppose I could just put a bounding box around it, but it seems odd when nothing else has one (we really liked the clean, open feel, as if you were at a poker table).

That was actually the motivation to make the actual screen of the iphone clickable and cycle through the features…plus it looked/felt great, almost as if you’re using the app!

I tried making that particular header red…does this help, or is it the entire accordion that isn’t engaging enough?

Any ideas are more than welcome if you think of any! Thanks again Doc.

I actually think the red header is a big help!

And you gave me a new idea…I decided to make the actual clickable features actual buttons, like you would see on an iPhone…better or too much?

    Just a bump for good measure… :)

You killed the red – a sad day for all!

Argh, no I didn’t! We have a few people working on this site and he overwrote my changes…right after I bumped this thread! Sorry about that…it’s back now along with some other changes (made the links buttons now, which I think really draws users in now).

    Whaddya think?

Much better for sure. I still don’t quite know exactly where my eyes should focus on first, which is a pretty big deal for me, but it’s definitely an improvement.

It’s a really tough subject matter to work with!

Well we really just wanted people to focus on the iphone and click the screen, which will automatically expand the features nav…trying to emulate the idea of the iphone ‘tap’ with just a browser. Then they can browse/experience all the features and never have to move the mouse at all.

    That’s the idea, anyway! :)

great overall. the interactitvity of the phone is awesome. pretty cool, unique idea.
    some ideas for improvement:

    1. make the logo on the default iPhone screen more interesting. right now it doesn’t give much visual interest until you click on a feature. (maybe try autocycling through the screenshots?)

    2. what’s up with the icons on the accordions? a fish? huh? maybe switch to expand/collapse icons to so the user knows what to do.

    3. i don’t like the centered text for the quotes. probably just a personal preference though.

    …now where’s that Android app? ;)

    Thanks j…

We had the logo in there before but it was really redundant and clashed with the header logo…it was the clients preference to put just the symbol. Autocycle might not be a bad idea, though.

The icons, again, clients preference. The fish is for “Fish Finder”, apparently a poker term (I don’t play, so I didn’t get it either).

I agree about the quotes…I left aligned now.
