Hey Guys,
I have another website up for review, this time the mock up.
Their original site is a fixed website: http://www.riversidedesigners.com/portfolio/
Here is my mock up for their new site: http://cjohnson8.icnd.net/rivermock.jpg
They are an interior design company and they don’t have a whole lot of content as far as text goes, so they want to show case their "rooms" the most.
I think maybe a little welcome text would be nice? But who knows what they want, lol
What do you guys think?

I notice that once I started looking at it my eyes moved around the page which is exactly what you want a design to do. The mock has a very nice flow.
The only suggestion I can offer is darkening the footer text (phone, fax and address) slightly. That information is too important to blend into the background. If you darken it a little it will pop out and it will be more noticeable to the user which is something I’m sure the company will appreciate. Don’t make it too dark though!

One thing I’m not too fond of, though, is having the navigation on the bottom like that. I suppose if it’s a fixed height site (which I will also have a problem with), it’s not too bad.
I’m not too sure what’s going on with the shading of the images on the right panel there though. Sort of looks weird. I’m guessing maybe something will happen on mouseover? But even so, I think they should all be nice and bright.
Other than that, good stuff so far!
July 31, 2009 at 4:28 pm #61561cpj238MemberI just updated this one, the client hasn’t seen it yet, but I was advised that this client likes to see different backgrounds before they chose, so I made 2 more versions.
You can see them here: http://cjohnson8.icnd.net/river/
Just click the image to be taken to the next one.
Thoughts?
I still like the original best.

July 31, 2009 at 6:10 pm #61551LuminatedMemberI do too…I can’t help but be partial to the clouds (if you’ve seen my site, you know why) :) .
Otherwise, also like the second quite a bit, but I feel its too dark. I like the texture on the third but I don’t feel the rest of the design does well with the textured look. I say go with your initial design.
Great job!
August 3, 2009 at 2:07 pm #61708cpj238MemberHmm, client reviewed and said she wanted her site to look more like this:
http://www.urbangraceinteriorsinc.com/htmlver/index.php
So I changed it to look like this:
http://cjohnson8.icnd.net/river/index4.cfm (click image to cycle all)
I love clients… Let’s see if she approves of above.

Really nice job on this one.. Such a pity the client is interfering with an otherwise great layout
Always seems to be the case that the client becomes fixated on another site in the same industry, happened more time than I can recall. You have done a really nice job of catering to them in the 4th version, although the initial layout was obviously the better.
Really nice job. On a personal note i think my personal fav has to be the 3rd rendition. Almost retro, very cool.
I hope they go for v4 without trying to bend you closer to urban grace.
August 4, 2009 at 10:50 am #61750cpj238MemberLOL they wanted one more, can you believe it? They wanted a mix of index2 and index4 so I made index6:

silly clients, lets see what they want to change this time, haha

deep breaths deep breaths, still looking good though!
August 5, 2009 at 1:07 am #61785MrBrightsideParticipantI like the first style the best, but the newest one still is a very good design, Guess you have to give the costomers what they want huh.
